Mt. Hermon hoops playing in District 7-B Tournament

Mt. Hermon School’s girls and boys’ basketball teams are playing in the District 7-B Tournament that began yesterday and runs through Friday at Holden.
The girls’ tournament began yesterday and concludes Friday, as four teams are competing.
Yesterday’s games featured second-seeded Mt. Hermon going against third-seeded Maurepas and top-seeded Holden playing fourth-seeded Kenner Discovery Health Science.
Mt. Hermon captured a 33-23 victory over Maurepas.
Kalei Hughes scored 19 points to lead the Lady Jackets. Hughes made four 3-pointers.
Sikoya Jackson posted six points while Bailey Fortenberry and Macey Applegate added four each. Fortenberry made a 3-pointer.
Mt. Hermon plays Holden for the title at 6 p.m. Friday. The teams that did not win will go against each other at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
The boys also began play yesterday.
Fourth-seeded Mt. Hermon played fifth-seeded Maurepas with the winner going against top-seeded Crescent City tomorrow at 6 p.m.
Mt. Hermon was victorious over Maurepas, 69-27.
Michquel Spears topped the Yellow Jackets with 13 points. He made three 3-pointers.
All 10 of Mt. Hermon’s players tallied points.
Keondre Bunch posted 12 points.
Tevin Williams and Rashad Oatis recorded eight each while Travell Brumfied had seven, Jeremy Brumfield posted six, Tristan Brumfield put up five, Brodie Haley totaled four and LaQuarry Alexander and Nate Womack added three each.
Mt. Hermon plays Crescent City tomorrow at 6 p.m.
The other game had third-seeded Runnels facing sixth-seeded Kenner Discovery Health Science and the winning team plays second-seeded Holden tomorrow at 7:15.
Tomorrow’s winners play for the championship on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The losing teams from tomorrow play Friday at 4:45 p.m.
