On Wednesday, Jan. 16, Anthony Ricardo “Spud” Lee, 31, a resident of Lee Road near Franklinton, was arrested once again by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives, according to WPSO Chief Deputy Mike Haley.

While investigating the theft of four-wheelers and farm equipment from a rural location in the Stateline area, detectives collected physical evidence from the crime scene and forwarded the evidence to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, Haley said. The processed evidence identified Lee as the suspect.

At the time, Lee was incarcerated in the Walthall County, Miss., Jail for possession of a stolen firearm. He was returned to Washington Parish and booked into the jail charged with theft and violation of his probation. As of Wednesday morning, he remained in the jail on the probation violation and a bond of $3,500 for the theft.

Lee is well known to law enforcement in Washington Parish, Haley said. His lengthy arrest record began in 2008 when he was arrested for attempted second-degree murder and possession of stolen property. The following year, he was arrested for possession with intent to distribute illegal narcotics and possession of illegal narcotics with a weapon present.

Haley said that subsequent arrests were for possession of illegal drugs, obstruction of justice, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer with force or violence and burglary. Lee’s current arrest is his first since December 2016, when he was charged with 14 different offenses.

“Our detectives did an excellent job investigating Lee’s latest crime and identifying him quickly,” Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal said. “If anyone has purchased anything at all from Anthony Ricardo ‘Spud’ Lee, I request they contact our detective division at 1-985-661-6024.”
