This coming week, nine local powerlifters will be coming competing for state titles at Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria.

Franklinton’s Mason Givens, Shimon Davis, Spencer Lambert, Drake Jenkins, Dakota Gulsby, Zack Brumfield and Joe Magee, Bogalusa’s Derek Keating and Varnado’s T’Andrew Foster will go for titles.

Lifters qualified for state through their regional meets. Ten lifters per weight class in each classification made it to state. Six regionals took place. Winners from each regional automatically reached state and then the top lifters among the non-winners qualified.

The competition takes place March 14-16.
