Felicia Denise Magee, better known as “Fila,” was born Nov. 27, 1968, to Gary C. and Helen M. Magee, of Franklinton. On Friday morning, April 12, 2019, she transitioned from labor to reward. Felicia is the third of four daughters.
At an early age she became a member of her neighborhood church — Winan United Methodist Church of Franklinton, where the Rev. Terrance August was her pastor. There, she was a member of the youth choir.
She later returned with her parents and sisters to their old home church in Varnado — Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. After graduating from Franklinton High School, she relocated to Grambling State University where she majored in Early Childhood Education.
Felicia taught in Franklinton for one year and moved to Bogalusa where she worked for 22 years. She retired, and was asked to return, but was not able to complete her 2019 school term. She was married to Stephon Tyson and to that marriage two girls were born, Mia D. Tyson and Mya A. Tyson.
Felicia is an active member of Triumph Missionary Baptist Church of Poplarville, Miss., where the Rev. Dr. LaVerne Cook Jr. is her pastor.
Felicia is survived by her parents; two daughters, Mia and Mya; three sisters, Bridgett A. Cook (Dr. LaVerne) of Bogalusa, Stephanie D. Collins (Ronald) of Houston, Texas, and Nicole Walker (Derrick) of Houston; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also a special friend that she had planned to marry, Mr. Conley Howard Penn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Dr. LaVerne Cook Jr. officiating. Interment will be in B. B. Moses Memorial Park in Varnado.
