Pine High School’s Ian Turner

Pine’s Ian Turner is a senior for the Raiders. Turner plays second base for the baseball team. Last season, Turner was a second-team all-district infielder.
“Ian is the type of player every coach would love to have. He works hard everyday, is always respectful and can be relied upon,” Pine baseball coach Blake Dillon said. “Ian is an example to all players that working hard and having a good attitude can get you where you want to go.”

What do you enjoy most about playing your sport?
I just like the aspect of how of everybody here has treated you as a family. It’s like the brotherhood that we all possess.

What do you like best about being a student athlete?
I like missing school for games.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My grandfather (the late Joe Crain). He always supported me no matter what and he always had my back through everything. He always pushed me to work harder to be the best I could be.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Former NBA player Michael Jordan. I liked the competitive mindset that he had and I also really admired his work ethic and all of the work that he put into his game to be the best that he could be.

Favorite team?
LSU Tigers.

Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
Just how close everybody is. Everybody knows everybody and everybody’s friends with everybody. It’s just real easy to get along with everybody here.
