This school year, we began a “Getting to Know” piece nearly each week in sports.

It was an idea we talked about at the paper last summer, and determined it would be a positive addition.

The piece was another way to promote the local athletes and the sports programs, find out a little about the athletes, allow them to highlight people who have been the most influential in their school sports career and allow the coaches to talk about the athletes outside of a game setting.

The coaches picked the athletes for the Getting to Knows and the athletes gave great answers.

With the school year winding down, Wednesday was the final Getting to Know piece until the 2019-20 high school sports get under way with Bowling Green School softball, which will be in the late-July early-August timeframe.

We appreciate the coaches and athletes working with us for this piece and look forward to having it once again next year.
