Spring football games are coming up, as coaches and players continue preparations for the 2019 season.
The spring games are an evaluation tool for coaches, and in most competitions, a chance for players to compete against somebody other than their own teammates.
The four LHSAA teams in Washington Parish will be playing either Thursday or Friday.
Both of Thursday’s games are on the road while Friday’s contests are both home games.
On Thursday, Franklinton travels to Joe Yenni Stadium in Metairie to face Riverdale, with the game getting underway at 6 p.m.
Continuing with Thursday’s action, Pine is heading to Loranger and that game also begins at 6 p.m.
On Friday, Bogalusa and Varnado are playing home games.
Bogalusa is going against Salmen with a 6 p.m. start.
Also on Friday, Varnado is playing an intersquad game that is starting at 6:30 p.m.
All four teams enter this season after reaching the playoffs in the 2018 season.
Franklinton lost to St. Martinville, 55-42, in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Pine was defeated by Independence, 36-32, in the opening Class 2A postseason contest.
Bogalusa lost to Union Parish, 50-0, in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Varnado was topped by Sicily Island, 28-12, in the first round of the Class 1A postseason.
