Richard Johnson, a six-year U.S. Navy veteran, 80, passed away May 7, 2019, at his residence in Bogalusa.
He is survived by his three daughters, Becky (Chris) Walley of Bogalusa, Melissa (Donnie) Smith of Picayune, Miss., and Crissy Johnson of Trumann, Ark.; sister, Evelyn Holden of Walker; and nine grandchildren, Justin (Willie) Walley-Ross, Ben (Michaela) Walley, Heather Smith, Jonathan Smith, Hannah Smith, Holly Smith, Joyanna Smith, Richie Dickerson, and Christopher Johnson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his Furbaby, “Blackey.”
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Josephine Johnson; mother, Helen Johnson Alinder; father, Enar Johnson; and brother, Raymond Johnson.
Visitation was at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., and continued Saturday, May 11, at 9 a.m. until time for the funeral services at 11 a.m.
Burial followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Moon officiating. Military honors were presented by Magic City American Legion Post #24.
Pallbearers were Justin (Willie) Walley-Ross, Ben Walley, Jonathan Smith, Nick Blackburn, Richie Dickerson and Steven Mitchell.
