James McKenzie

James Leston McKenzie, 88, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at his residence in Franklinton. He was born on Nov. 15, 1930, in Stateline. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of the Pine Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elsie Evans McKenzie of Franklinton; a daughter, Tomi Culpepper (Steve) of Bogalusa; a son, James Gregory McKenzie (Kathy) of Franklinton; three grandchildren, Stephen McKenzie of Lebanon, Tenn., Jason McKenzie of Franklinton, and Jenny Stewart of Bogalusa; and six great-grandchildren, Maddye and Analyn McKenzie, Nate and Silas McKenzie, Colby and Katey Stewart. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Modez and Ruby McKenzie; and a sister, Hilda Breland.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 1, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. A Masonic Service was held in the Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Visitation continued in Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 2, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services began at 2 p.m., with Elder Tommy Hudnall, Elder Duane Ball, Elder Doyle Ball, and Elder Brent King officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery.
