Verna Adams

Verna Louise Boyd Adams, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, at the age of 90. She was born in Bogalusa on July 27, 1928. She was a lifetime member of Union Heritage Baptist Church, formerly known as Union Avenue Baptist Church.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ethel Anice Adams and Gregg Smith of Baton Rouge; daughter-in-law, Linda Adams of Hammond; her grandchildren, Erika Lynn Adams of Baton Rouge, and Adam Boyd (Kristy) Smith of Humble, Texas; and one great-grandson, Asher Thomas Smith. She is also survived by her beloved niece Bonnie Cothern and husband, Gary Cothern, and their son, Chad Cothern of Bogalusa.
She was preceded by her husband, Frederick Maurice Adams Sr.; her son, Frederick Maurice “Ricky” Adams Jr.; and her siblings, Marie Kelly, Daniel Boyd, William Earl Boyd Jr. and Tazwell Boyd.
Visitation will be in the chapel at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. and continue until the funeral service begins at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Doug Parker, Adam Smith, Chad Cothern, Ken Wilson, Darrin Harris and Tony Bruno.
