Bowling Green captures district opening game

Bowling Green School’s Cassidy Spears and Kylee Burris had big games and the Lady Buccaneers were victorious over Columbia Academy, 13-3, in six innings, during Bowling Green’s District 4AAA opener at home Tuesday.
Spears went 4-for-4 with four RBIs.
Burris had a pair of hits in as many at bats with four runs scored and three RBIs.
Bowling Green led 2-0 through two innings.
Columbia tied the game, 2-2, in the third inning, but Bowling Green put up five runs in the bottom of the frame to go up 7-2 and the Lady Buccaneers never looked back.
Bowling Green tallied 13 hits.
Anna Claire Crowe had a pair of hits to go with an RBI and three runs scored.
KaKa Seal went 1-for-1 with a run batted in.
Landry Dupont, Mandelyn Burch and Morgan Lusk all recorded one hit.
Burch threw all six innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Bowling Green entered Friday’s game with a 6-2 overall record and 1-0 in league play.
Bowling Green started a busy week of games last yesterday with a road game against Centreville Academy.
The Lady Bucs play at Amite School Center on Aug. 10 before a home game against Centreville Academy on Monday. Tuesday is a road game against Columbia Academy with a home game against Parklane Academy on Thursday before competing in the Silliman Institute Tournament in Prairieville next Saturday.
Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m. with varsity at 6:15 p.m. for Monday’s and Tuesday’s game. Thursday’s JV game begins at 6 p.m. with varsity set for 7:15 p.m.
