Lady Bucs defeat Wayne Academy

Bowling Green School’s Lady Buccaneers captured a 5-2 victory over Wayne Academy in a District 4AAA home game on Tuesday.
Bowling Green trailed 1-0 after the top of the second inning, but the Lady Bucs went in front for good with a trio of runs in their half of the frame.
Landry Dupont went 2-for-3 with a run batted in, a run scored and a walk.
Anna Claire Crowe tallied two hits and an RBI.
Cassidy Spears was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Kylee Burris posted two hits.
Madelyn Burch had a hit and a walk.
Morgan Carpenter tallied a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Elizabeth Wilkinson drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt.
Burch was the winning pitcher after throwing a complete game. She allowed no earned runs on five hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks.
Bowling Green is 12-5 overall and 3-0 in district play.
The Lady Buccaneers have games three of the next four games.
The team competes in the Parklane Academy Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Bowling Green has a game each on Monday and Tuesday.
Monday’s game is a home game against Copiah Educational Foundation. Tuesday’s game is on the road against Wayne Academy.
