Ben’s Ford Christian School was hurt by turnovers in a 41-24 loss to Wilkinson County Christian Academy in a road game held Friday.
The Eagles committed three turnovers — two lost fumbles and an interception.
“It would’ve been a lot closer had we not turned the ball over,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Tommy Pittman said. “They still probably would’ve beaten us. They’re a good team. That’s the third time we’ve played them. We played them in the scrimmage and the jamboree. We knew pretty much knew what they were going to do. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them do really well in the playoffs.”
Daniel Martin threw for 68 yards and ran for a team-leading 120 yards and two touchdowns. He also converted all three two-point conversions. He ran two in and completed one to Gage Adams. Martin also made 3.5 tackles, with 1.5 behind the line.
Austin Stogner rushed for 63 yards. He also had 4.5 stops, including one for a loss.
Payton Miller tallied 31 yards on the ground to go with a touchdown. Miller also recorded five tackles with a sack.
Adams had a carry for 17 yards and a catch for 21 yards. Adams also made a tackle.
John Robert Holston was the leading receiver with four catches for 47 yards. He also made 0.5 tackles.
A.J. Exkano had 3.5 tackles, with 0.5 for a loss. Alex Stogner had three stops, and Trey Hartzog posted 2.5 tackles.
Mason Boudreaux, Brantley Dyess all had one while James Blackwell tallied 0.5. Dyess had a stop behind the line.
Ben’s Ford trailed 27-0 with 2:06 left in the first half, but scored nine seconds before halftime to make it 27-8. After falling behind 34-8, the Eagles scored the game’s final 16 points.
Ben’s Ford Christian School is 1-1 this year. The Eagles’ next game will take place at home Friday against Hebron Christian School. Hebron is 0-2, and lost to Calhoun Academy, 28-6, last week.
