Ben’s Ford Christian School suffered a 22-14 loss to Hebron Christian School at home on Friday, in the District 2A2 opener for both teams.
Ben’s Ford and Hebron were tied 6-6 through three quarters.
The Eagles went in front 8-6 at the 9:16 mark of the fourth quarter on a safety by Austin Stogner.
Daniel Martin connected with Gage Adams on a 52-yard touchdown a minute later to give the Eagles a 14-6 lead after the two-point conversion was no good.
Hebron tied the game with 6:29 left and went in front for good at the 2:40 mark.
“We had opportunities to win it, but just couldn’t just hang on,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Tommy Pittman said. “The last time they scored, we had three missed tackles on it. It was a long run, but we should’ve been playing defense another down. They were just tired as we were, so fatigue is no excuse. We played on the same conditions. I guess they just wanted it more.”
Martin threw for 121 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 28 yards and a score. Defensively, Adams tallied four tackles.
Payton Miller ran 11 times for 53 yards. Miller also made seven tackles, including a half of one for a loss.
John Robert Holston caught three passes for 69 yards. Holston had 2.5 stops, with a half tackle behind the line.
Adams had one catch for 52 yards and a score. Adams tallied five tackles and one for a loss.
John Glover posted 3.5 stops with two behind the line.
Alex Stogner tallied 2.5 tackles and one for a loss.
Cameron Bullen recorded 2.5 tackles.
Austin Stogner made 1.5 tackles.

Ben’s Ford is 1-2 this season.
The Eagles’ next game will be Friday against Christian Collegiate Academy on the road. Christian Collegiate Academy is 0-3 this season. CCA lost to Prairie View Academy, 50-6 last week.
