Mr. Harold “Tommy” Rogers Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 1, 2019, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, at the age of 82. He was a retired electrician from the Bogalusa Papermill. He was also a member of the local Electrical Union No. 1077. He was affectionately known as the “Candyman.” He was also known to make candleholders to give to his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Scott Rogers of Bogalusa; one grandchild, Anthony Rogers of Bogalusa; his brother, Charles Ray (Pat) Rogers of Bogalusa; and sister, Shirley Burr of Bogalusa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Cookie Rogers; his parents, Harold and Minnie Rogers Sr.; and his daughter, Lori Rogers Moffat.
Services for Mr. Rogers will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Sunday, Oct. 6. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until the memorial service begins at 4 p.m. The Rev. Mark Morehouse will officiate.
