Bogalusa struggled in the third quarter, which was a key factor, in a 20-13 loss to Archbishop Hannan in a District 8-3A contest at home Thursday.
Bogalusa led 7-0 at halftime, but was outscored, 20-0, in the third quarter.
The Lumberjacks scored in the fourth quarter to make it 20-13 on a long run by Josh Taylor.
Bogalusa got the ball with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter down seven and moved it to the 1 late in the game, but got backed up to the 6 by penalty. With time running down, Bogalusa threw a pass to the end zone, but Hannan deflected the ball away from the receiver.
“We played three real good quarters of football,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. “We played poorly in the third quarter and that cost us, but the kids overcame it and we gave ourselves a chance to win it. But the penalty on the goal line and no timeouts hurt us.”
Bogalusa took a 7-0 lead late in the first half on a run by Tyrese Roussell. Taylor’s extra point made it 7-0 at halftime.
Bogalusa fell to 3-4 overall this season and 0-2 in league play. The Lumberjacks will be back in action on Friday with a non-district home game against Booker T. Washington.
Booker T. Washington has a 4-2 record, after they defeated Frederick A. Douglass High School, 32-10, on Oct. 11.
