Pine was defeated by defending Class 2A state champion Amite, 28-17, in Friday night’s District 9-2A game.
Pine led 17-14, but Amite took a 21-17 lead with 1:18 to go and then returned an interception for a touchdown with under a minute to go.
“They’re a top-two or three team in the state, no doubt,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said. “They’ve been the state champion. We led throughout the game and they took the lead. It’s disappointing, but you’ve got to move on. We’ve got Varnado coming in, and you want to win going into the playoffs.”
Adrianuen Johnson ran for 85 yards.
Logan Temples threw for 38 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 75 yards and a score.
Jordan Anderson made two catches for 32 yards and a touchdown.
Aurdrlique Dural led the defense with five tackles.
Larry Williams made a sack.
Colton Graves hit a 19-yard field goal.
Pine is 6-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.
The Raiders will travel to Varnado on Friday for their next game. Varnado is 2-7 overall and 0-4 in district play. The Wildcats lost to Independence, 28-0, last Friday.
