The new Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center is scheduled to have its ribbon cutting Tuesday morning at the site of the vacated Our Lady of the Angels “charity hospital” on Memphis Street.

Gov. John Bel Edwards and other officials are expected to join for the ribbon cutting, which will be at 10 a.m. at 400 Memphis St. in Bogalusa.

The plan is for Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center to offer a full continuum of care of addiction and recovery services, and to enhance resources for substance use disorder treatment in Washington Parish.

State Rep. Malinda White said that the center has been in the works for years, and she is excited to see it become a reality.

“When asked four years ago why I was running for state representative, I stated as a CASA volunteer, I want to bring a healing center to Washington Parish to address addiction that is destroying our family units,” White said, on Facebook. “Well, it’s been a long journey putting this partnership together between the State, Our Lady of the Angels, and Woodlake Recovery Center, but well worth the efforts.”

White said that the center would be the “BEST holistic recovery center in the state.”

White said that the location was made available for the recovery center, after Our Lady of the Angels moved its services to the renovated main hospital at 433 Plaza St. in Bogalusa.

The public is welcome to attend Tuesday’s ribbon cutting.
