Velma Marie Fairburn Jones, 81, of Franklinton, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Riverside Medical Center.
She enjoyed watching hummingbirds. She loved to make quilts and embroidery. She spent time reading her favorite books. She enjoyed going to listen to gospel music. Her most precious time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Jones of Franklinton, and Johnny and Donna Jones of Indiantown, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Emily Gonzalez of Fargo, N.D., Eva and Mike Graham, and Cindy and Tommy Guy, all of Franklinton; daughter-in-law, Lynda Jones of Franklinton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and an expected great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Jones; her parents, Warren Woodard and Vickey Dykes Fairburn; two sons, Bobby Jones and Allen Jones; grandsons, Barrett Harmon and Chris Jenkins; a daughter-in-law, Debra Jones; and brothers and a sister.
Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Jones, Cecil Reeves, Ray Williams, Pete Williams, Raul Gonzalez Jr. and Tommy Guy. Honorary pallbearers will be B.J. Harmon and Mike Graham.
