Franklinton goes 3-1 in tournament

Franklinton’s Demons went 3-1 in the Washington Parish High School Baseball Tournament that took place March 12-14 at Franklinton and Pine.
Franklinton and Pine played all of their games at home.
The Demons opened the tournament with a 10-2 victory over Jewel Sumner on March 12.
Franklinton broke open a 2-0 game through two innings with four runs in the third.
Jalen Burkhalter went 3-for-4 that included a double with a run batted in and a run scored.
Jake Bracey recorded two hits that included a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
Jordan McKenzie singled, doubled and scored a run.
Chase Penton singled twice and scored a run.
Noah Breland doubled and scored a pair of runs.
Banyan Penton had a hit and two runs scored.
Will Turner recorded a single and an RBI.
Matthew Ginn singled.
Landon Keller scored a run and drove one home, while Garrett Maxwell scored a run in the win.
Winning pitcher Jarrett Wyble threw five innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
Dillon Pace allowed an unearned run on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk in two innings of relief work.
The next day, Franklinton defeated Bogalusa 15-0 in five innings.
Franklinton scored nine runs in the first.
Wyble tallied two hits, three RBIs and a run scored.
Turner singled, drove in four runs and scored a run.
Burkhalter and Breland each tallied a hit and two runs scored.
Ginn doubled, scored two runs and posted an RBI.
Daylin Sigler drove in a run and tallied two runs, while Isaac Wascom had two runs scored and a pair of RBIs, Keller scored two runs, Bracey scored a run and Penton drove in a run.
Maxwell pitched all five innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.
Franklinton played a pair of games on March 14, coming up short in the first and winning the second.
The first contest was a 12-9 loss to Walker.
Burkhalter singled twice and scored three runs.
Keller posted two hits with an RBI.
Wyble went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Sigler singled and scored two runs.
Wascom posted a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Chase Penton singled and scored a run.
Breland had a hit.
McKenzie drove in three runs, while Turner and Banyan Penton collected one RBI each and A.J. Magee scored a run.
The Demons’ final game of the tournament was a 12-0 win over Varnado in five innings.
Burkhalter posted three hits, all were doubles, three runs scored and an RBI.
Keller put up two hits, one for a triple, with two RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
McKenzie recorded a pair of hits that included a double, a run scored and an RBI.
Turner singled and drove in a run.
Ginn scored two runs and drove one home, while Breland scored a pair of runs, Maxwell and Bracey scored a run each and Wascom drove in a run.
Turner was the winning pitcher after throwing four shutout innings allowing just two hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
Breland pitched a shutout inning of relief with a strikeout and a walk.
Pine went 1-2.
The Raiders won their first game, 13-10, over Bogalusa on March 12.
Pine jumped out to a 7-0 lead through one inning, but Bogalusa tied the game in the fifth with five runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth.
Pine went back in front in the bottom of the fifth by scoring five runs to go up 12-7 in the 13-10 win.
Kendall Sheridan recorded two hits, including a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in.
Chase Cooper doubled, drove in a pair of runs and scored two runs.
Luke Fonda tallied a hit with a run scored and an RBI.
Reese Thomas singled, scored a run and drove home two.
Logan Temples singled, scored two runs and recorded an RBI.
Kaden Fersch doubled and scored a run.
Coby Sheridan and Bryson Thomas tallied two runs each, while Devan Whaley drove in a run.
Pine played Walker once in each of the next two days.
The Raiders lost 12-0 on March 13 and came up short, 7-6, the following day.
Varnado was defeated in its two games.
The Wildcats lost to Jewel Sumner, 21-2, on March 13 and 12-0 to Franklinton the following day.
Bogalusa was topped in its three contests.
The Lumberjacks were defeated by Pine, 13-10 on March 12. The next day was a 15-0 loss to Franklinton and they lost to Jewel Sumner, 11-4, on March 14.
