Alvin McKay was born in Bogalusa to the late Albert and Ganey McKay.
Alvin, affectionately known as “Scobby,” lived in Franklinton. In his early years, Alvin worked at Burris gas station. He was well known around the community and loved by many.
Alvin McKay joined New Hope Methodist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Early Garrett. He was also a member of Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Norwert Hills Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Lonnie (Betty) Mckay of Franklinton, Larry McKay of Houston, Texas, and Donie McKay of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Elma Lee McKay of Houston and Lymonia Hart of Franklinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lanester McKay and nephew Benny McKay.
Services were held at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home, 939 Cleveland St. in Franklinton, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21.
