Bessie Lee Dyson-Manning passed away on May 2, 2020, at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington, from complications of the Coronavirus.
Bessie Lee was born Feb. 18, 1931, to Emory Dyson and Luberta Brumfield-Dyson of Mt. Hermon. She was the fourth child of eight children: Eskew, Myrtle, Rosa Lee Gill, Cora Bell, Nell Grace, Anna Bell and Odell.
She was baptized at Crystal Spring Methodist Church in Mt. Hermon. She attended Vernon Elementary and High School, in Mt. Hermon, and graduated as salutatorian of her high school class in 1948.
After graduations, she married Arthur Jewel Manning and to this union three children were born, Larry Lionel Manning, Wm. Raymond Manning and Perry Manning. The family were active members of Sweet Rest Baptist Church in Franklinton.
She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Ray and Perry; daughters-in-law, Wendy and Catherine; grandchildren, Larry Jr., Cedric, Toshiba, Lerone, Ashleigh, Shawon, Danisha, Jonettica; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband, three sisters (Cora, Rosa Lee and Nell Grace), brother, (Eskew) and her son, Larry and his wife, Elenore Ann.
Bessie Lee was a loving wife, mother, homemaker and church servant who enjoyed church services, time with her family and travel with her husband.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the concern of the safety and welfare of others, there will be no service at this time. Donations in lieu of flowers should be sent to your local food bank. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. A private graveside service will be held at Sweet Rest Cemetery with Rev. Norwert Hills Jr., pastor, officiating. Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton is in charge of arrangements.
