It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a great man, Johnny Magee of Franklinton. He was born on Nov. 3, 1946, to the late Walter Magee Sr. and Gertrude Magee. He passed away peacefully on June 3, 2020. He was the youngest son out of five siblings, which includes the late Christine (Eugine) Martin, Murdock (Jeanette) Magee, and Walter Magee Jr. He leaves to grieve one daughter, Cassie Bright, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Johnny Magee was a very hard-working man; never afraid of getting the job done. He was determined to live a good life. He worked as a dairy farmer milking cows and making sure all of the animals were fed and taken care of. Later in life he became a mechanic in downtown Franklinton, at Blossoms and Firestone. He rotated tires, changed and filtered oil in automobiles and many more. He never met a stranger.
Johnny Magee is the omega. The last son of a great Magee bloodline. He will be reunited not only with his siblings and parents, but also with the people of God from all ages.
The viewing of his tenement will be Saturday, June 13, at 9 a.m. The memorial will be held at Greater Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where the Rev. Jerome Warren is pastor, at 31499 Hayes Creek Road in Franklinton, on Saturday, June 13, at 10 a.m.
