Franklinton’s girls track/field team had three seniors this season in Aleria Dillon, Kassidy Nielson and Yvone Tran. Their season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Franklinton coach Andy Perez spoke about each senior.
“Aleria Dillon threw the shot put for us the past four years,” Perez said. “She was able to place first in district last year and sixth in the region, which is good because our regional is pretty tough. Obviously, top three go to state. She wasn’t able to make state, but she was able to get to the sixth place in regionals.”
Perez also talked about Nielson.
“Kassidy Nielson, obviously, now she was one of the best female athletes or maybe the best female athlete since I’ve been here and I’ve been here since 2009,” Perez said. “She placed second her junior year in the 200 dash at district. She anchored our 4×100 and 4×200 relays the last two years. Last year at district, we placed first in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays and she was our anchor leg on that. Very good athlete and very strong student as well. We’re gonna miss her and the rest of these seniors.”
Perez also gave his thoughts on Tran.
“Yvone Tran ran the 800 meters and 1,600 meters,” Perez said. “She split time between track and tennis. We tried to let her do both. She was self-motivated, ran a lot on her own. She was fifth in district in 2018.”
