Pine takes to the road on Friday to scrimmage against Albany at 6 p.m.
“Our goal is just to have a clean scrimmage, not a lot of mistakes, especially pre-snap, take care of the football and tackle well,” Pine coach Bradley Seal said.
Seal said they are looking forward to playing against a different opponent.
“The kids and coaches, about two weeks ago, you got itching to go against somebody else,” Seal said. “It gets repetitive going against yourself, so it’s good to go against somebody else.”
The first stringers will compete in a 12-play series offensively and defensively.
That will be followed by the second stringers taking the field for an eight-play series on offense and defense.
That will be repeated and then there will be a pair of 10-minute quarters to cap off the event.
Pine went 7-3 last season and shared the District 9-2A title with Amite and Kentwood. The Raiders reached the quarterfinal round of the playoffs, but lost to Many, 49-21.
Albany posted a 5-5 mark. The Hornets made the playoffs, but lost to Caldwell Parish, 23-6, in the first round of the Class 3A postseason.
Pine will open the season on Oct. 2 at home against Pearl River.
