Franklinton is at home scrimmaging Covington on Thursday, starting at 5 p.m.
“It’s obviously been a while since we’ve been able to play someone else besides ourselves, so we’re looking forward to that. Not having had a jamboree and 7-on-7s, we haven’t been able to do any of that. We’ve got a lot of sophomores and first-year starters, so it’s a chance to evaluate all of them before week one,” Franklinton coach Jonathan Barber said.
Franklinton comes off a 6-4 season. The Demons reached the playoffs, but lost to George Washington Carver, 34-23, in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Covington posted a 6-4 record last season, but lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Destrehan, 17-7.
Franklinton will begin the regular season on Oct. 2 against Bogalusa on the road.
