Leonard Mayfield passed away at St. Tammany Parish Hospital with his children by his side. Leonard was a lifelong resident of Bogalusa. Leonard was a proud Lumberjack for Bogalusa High School. After graduation, in 1957, he attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston. He graduated from Tech in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He then married Lou Ann Lock Mayfield, whom he was married to for 58 years.
He is survived by his children, Michael Mayfield (Jessica Stogner), Monica Markey and Mary Mayfield; his brother, Donald Mayfield from Groves, Texas; grandchildren, Blake Barnes (Wendy Stogner), Joshua Mayfield, Marina (Nathan) Poe, Jessica January (Kyryn-Kenya Jackson Sr.), Angelle Markey, Allie Barnes, Gabrielle Mayfield, Mason Stogner, Landon Gornor, Aliyah Markey, Payton Stogner, Dewan Brown, Jr., Kylan Mayfield, Lane Stogner, Kyra Jackson, Kyryn-Kenya Jackson, Jr., Alaina Barnes, Lukas Mayfield, Harbor Mayfield and Evalyn Mayfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Ann Mayfield; his daughter, Melanie Mayfield Barnes; and his parents, Wilfred “Jack” and Lucille Mayfield.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 26, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, starting at 10 a.m. until the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Deacon Ed Kelly and Chaplain Jacob Gill will officiate the service and interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
