Varnado High School’s Elizah Miller
Varnado’s Elizah Miller is a basketball player for the Wildcats.
Miller, who is a senior, plays guard and center.
“Stellar young man in the classroom and on the hardwood,” Varnado coach D.W. Trosclair said. “Currently has 3.1 GPA as a senior. Phenomenal person and player. He also serves as the team captain for two years now. He has a heart of a champion and has a heart of gold and will help anyone in need of help. Quiet soul and sometimes he can be funny with practical jokes with his teammates and friends. Also, he is the kid you would like your daughter to bring home to meet the parents. For my second year here, it’s been a pleasure and honor to be this young man’s coach. I see him as a role model and leader in his future endeavors.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sport?
I love being around my teammates. It’s like a family. I like playing basketball. I’ve been playing since I was in sixth grade. I like the crowds.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
I gotta keep my grades up and that’s a good thing. It’s hard to do that and basketball, but that’s a good thing because when you get to the next level, it gets even harder.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My momma (Shawn Nichols) because she’s always pushing me to work harder and I want to make her proud.
Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Kevin Durant because nobody can guard him and he’s unstoppable. He came from something small like I am and he made it bigger.
Favorite team?
Brooklyn Nets.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
Kind of small. You get to really know a lot of people.
