On June 12, 1997, at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, Jaylan was born to Emelda Matthews and Parrish Holloway of Bogalusa.
During the course of her life she battled sickle cell anemia. She fought through the pain and she remained strong. She was a true solider, built Ford tough.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Emelda Matthews and Parrish Holloway; her sisters, Destiny Patterson, DeShontaire Foster and Trinity Spland; and five brothers, Malik Patterson, Jeremy Lewis, KeKouya Jackson, Johnathan Lewis and Reshard Smith; and some very special cousins that she couldn’t be apart from, Toddasia Mark, Shania Matthews, Keion Fox, Dakeithan Matthews, Justin Matthews, Corwin Matthews, Ja’Monica Dillon, Ty’Asia and Tyeianna Bell, Tyrik and Tyler Bell, Marquese and a very special Baby Cousin T’na Guy; and a special Father Figure, Donte Patterson, who helped raise her and loved her since she was born; her uncles, Oless, Solomon, Roderick and Bobby Matthews Jr., Albert, Renard and Gregory Robinson, and Brian Mingo; and a very special aunt, Karla Matthews, who loved and took great care of her as her own.
She was also loved dearly by Dariunte Bickham; their union brought a beautiful baby girl named Sa’Noria Bickham; and by the entire Bickham family of Christy, Daphne, Florine and Chyanda Bickham.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bobby Matthews Sr., Albert Robinson Sr. and Rosezetta Fields Matthews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home Chapel in Bogalusa. Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 18, at the chapel from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
