Varnado High School’s Brandon Jefferson
Varnado’s Brandon Jefferson is a two-sport athlete.
Jefferson, who is a senior, plays baseball and basketball.
In baseball, Jefferson is a shortstop and a pitcher.
Jefferson played his first season of basketball this year and was a power forward and a center.
“Brandon is the perfect senior,” Varnado baseball coach Mark Barnwell said. “He demands hard work from his teammates and leads by example. He takes losses very hard and he will dearly missed next year. We wish him the best of luck in the future.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sports?
I really love playing the game, but I love my teammates too.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
When you’re a student athlete, you become the leader of your team.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My brother (Xavier Moses) because he showed me more ways to improve myself while I played.
Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado.
Favorite team?
Boston Red Sox.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
It’s really a small town and there’s not that much trouble around here.
