Mrs. Jean Scott passed away on Aug. 17, 2021. She was a faithful member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved her “Esther” Sunday School class. For many years you could find her with her “Hardees group” eating breakfast and catching up with them. She kept the legacy of that wonderful group alive by still having a Hardees biscuit for breakfast each morning. If you knew her well, you likely have eaten some of her famous pound cake. She was well known in her church and in the community for bringing pound cakes to anyone who was sick or had lost a loved one. She loved to cook, but especially loved baking.
Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, William Lamar Scott (Becky) of Bogalusa; a daughter, Carol Ann Kellis of Varnado; and a son, Kenneth Wade Scott of Bogalusa. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Zachary Davis; and her husband, Mr. John Stanley Scott.
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:22-23). Those who knew Mrs. Scott best take great comfort in knowing that she knew Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and it is by His righteousness alone that she is with Him in Glory today.
In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Superior Avenue Baptist Church in her name.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, from 1:30 p.m. until time for the services at 4 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, with Bro. Clay Norwood officiating the services.
