Bowling Green wins 1st-round tourney game

Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers were victorious over Hartfield Academy in the South State Tournament, 58-17, at Brookhaven Academy Tuesday.
Bowling Green led, 23-3, after the opening period before making it 45-6 by halftime.
Kristina Jerrell scored 12 points for the Lady Bucs on 4-of-7 shooting, including three of six from beyond the arc. Jerrell also had a rebound and two steals.
Ashley Foret and Hollie Waskom tallied 10 points each.
Foret finished two of four from the floor and six of seven from the free-throw line. Foret tallied four rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.
Waskom hit three of her four field goals and four of six at the charity stripe. Waskom grabbed five boards to go with three assists and two steals.
Reagan Moody had seven points while knocking down all three of her shots. Moody also posted two rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Hallie Robertson put up six points on two of three shooting. All of her shots were 3-pointers.
McKinley Seal posted four points, a rebound, four steals and two assists.
Natalie Michel added three points and five rebounds.
Katelin Junkins and Peyton Stogner contributed two points each. Junkins also had a rebound.
The Lady Bucs finished 19 of 37 from the field (51.5 percent) while hitting six of their 16 threes (37.5) and 14 of 20 from the free-throw line (70).
Bowling Green returns to action in the South State Tournament today at 5:15 p.m.
