The football game between Varnado and Bogalusa that was scheduled for Oct. 1 has been canceled.

Officials with both the Bogalusa City Schools and Washington Parish Schools released a joint statement Thursday afternoon:

“After much consideration from the Washington Parish School System and the Bogalusa City School System, the game to be played between the Bogalusa Lumberjacks and the Varnado Wildcats on Oct. 1, 2021 has been cancelled. The two coaches agreed, along with administration, to cancel their game and take a bye week, for the safety of all concerned, due to the current violence in our community.”
