Just one day after reaching a new program best in the NJCAA rankings, the No. 3 Pearl River soccer team got some more good news as Andre Nicholson (Kingston, Jamaica.; Clarendon College) was named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The midfielder lands the award after tallying three goals and three assists in last week’s matches against then No. 6 Jones College and Southwest.
In Pearl River’s 3-1 win at Southwest, Nicholson lasered a ball past the Jones College keeper for a goal.
Nicholson was involved in five out of the seven goals scored against Southwest, scoring twice and assisting on three goals.
Nicholson and the Wildcats are off to an incredible start opening the season on a 10-match unbeaten streak.
Pearl River averages 3.3 goals per game while only allowing 0.29 goals against.
Nicholson is the third men’s soccer player to be honored by the MACCC. Harper Baggett (Ocean Springs) has earned Offensive Player of the Week twice and Maddux Francis (Poplarville) has claimed three MACCC Goalkeeper of the Week Awards.
