Bogalusa runners compete in state cross country meet

Two Bogalusa runners competed in the Class 3A state meet that was held on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
Grace Jones and Tyreiona Pittman competed in the three-mile event.
Jones was 130th with a time of 36 minutes, 21 seconds, while Pittman was 134th at 42:40. Jones is an eighth grader and Pittman is a freshman.
Patrick Taylor Science and Technology Academy’s Saige Christen won the state title after running the race in 19:18.
Albany’s Cayden Boudreaux was eight seconds behind for second.
St. Louis Catholic’s Ella Segura (19:36) was third, followed by E.D. White’s Rylee Methvin (20:10) and Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans’ Leah Varisco (20:17) to round out the top five in a field of 136.
E.D. White won the team title with 50 points.
Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans was second with 70, followed by University Lab School’s 136, St. Louis Catholic’s 141 and West Feliciana to round out the top five with 173, as 17 teams posted points.
