Joyce Irene Spillman, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021, in Farmington, Ark., at the age of 78.
Mrs. Joyce was born March 30, 1943, in Bogalusa, to Teman Knight Sr. and Yvonne Elizabeth (Picard) Knight. Joyce was a devoted homemaker and amazing heirloom seamstress. She was a graduate of Bogalusa High School and a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Bogalusa.
Mrs. Joyce is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Everette Spillman; a daughter, Michelle (Dr. Tom) Hover of Farmington; a son, Jerry David (Sherri) Spillman of Bogalusa; three granddaughters, Kelly (Jason) Combs, Mindy (Kyle) Foster and Shannon (Tyler) Barrett, all of Farmington; two grandsons, Aaron (Shyanne) Spillman and Cole Spillman of Bogalusa; 10 great-grandchildren, Abianne Combs, Laney Combs, Evie Combs, Micah Foster, Kenzie Foster, Ellie Foster, Bright Foster, Maverick Barrett, Colt Barrett, Bentley Barrett, and soon to be born Jett Barrett, all of Farmington; a brother Teman (Brenda) Knight Jr. of Montgomery, Ala.; and a sister, Mary Ewell of Bogalusa.
Mrs. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Teman Knight Sr. and Yvonne Elizabeth (Picard) Knight; and two sisters, Mildred Jenkins and Sarah Hunt.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in Farmington, with Dr. Tom Hover officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa, with Dr. Tom Hover officiating.
