Hattie James

Hattie Latricia James, age 45 and a resident of Sunny Hill, La., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Ochsner Hospital of New Orleans.
Hattie was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Hermon, where she regularly attended church services, prayer meetings and Sunday school. She was a known soloist, choir president, usher, Junior and Senior Mission member and president of the Annual Senior Citizen’s Dinner Committee. She was a hard worker and had a smile for everyone she met. People naturally gravitated to her because of her friendly spirit. Her pecan candy, cakes and pies will be missed.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Joseph James of Sunny Hill. Hattie was the daughter of the late Rev. Oscar James and JoeAnna Nicholson James, and she also leaves to mourn her passing her five siblings from that union, Venesta James and Juyanna James, both of New Orleans, Sampson James and Laura James, both of Sunny Hill, and Gloria James of Dallas; five other siblings, Barnet Taylor and Warnet Hart, both of Picayune, Miss., Eric Taylor of Pensacola, Fla., Judy Taylor of Tampa, Fla., and Aaron Taylor of Sandy Hook, Miss.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., with a wake service to follow at 6 p.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Hermon.
The funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. George Butler officiating. Interment will be held in the Mt.
