Elizabeth Whelan Jung, a resident of Baton Rouge and former resident of Bogalusa, age 98, was born on Aug. 13, 1916, in Bogalusa and passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at St. Clare Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge.
She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Jung Bourg and Teresa Jung Gomez (Frank “Jack” Jr.); two sons, Father Michael “Harold” Jung, O.S.B., and Michael Whelan Jung (Ann Hemphill); 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edwin Jung; her parents, George Whelan and Eleanor LeTourneau Whelan; two sisters, Mary Whelan Smith and Jean T. Whelan; and two brothers, James Whelan and Wyman Whelan.
Visitation was held at Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service Mass was held at 11 a.m., with Father Michael “Harold” Jung, O.S.B., officiating. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.
