The recent capture of fugitive Luis Enrique Garcia-Madera emphasized the importance of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office website and its Most Wanted section.

On Thursday, Jan. 15, the website featured Madera’s picture posted on the Most Wanted page along with an article concerning his crime. Madera had fled Washington Parish, but a member of the public recognized his picture, which led to his location at a dairy barn in Marion County, Miss. He was arrested, extradited to Washington Parish and placed in the parish jail.

The website was created for the benefit of both the Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Washington Parish. It allows citizens to know who is in jail, who has been released and who is listed as Most Wanted.

In addition, the website contains links to media releases, sex offender locations and other information about the various functions of the Sheriff’s Office.

Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal encourages all citizens to visit the website frequently.

“The website is a source of valuable information for the general public. It helps each person to keep up with activities of the Sheriff’s Office and gives them the opportunity to assist us in the apprehension of fugitives,” Seal said.

The website can be accessed at www.wpso.la.gov.
