Georgia Southern sophomore forward Terren Ward became the first Eagle since 1991 to notch back-to-back 30-point performances in helping her team to a pair of wins. She is the Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Ward, who averaged 31 points per game in wins against App State and Coastal Carolina, stretched Georgia Southern’s current Sun Belt win streak to four, which is the longest for the team since it joined the conference.
Ward scored a career-high 32 points and made the game-winning steal in overtime as the Eagles defeated App State, 82-80, on Thursday. She then stuffed the stat sheet on Saturday against Coastal Carolina with 30 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block in Saturday’s 90-75 win against the Chanticleers.
Ward is now averaging 18.4 points per game in Sun Belt play this season.
