The Daily News will be shutting down its printing operations at the end of February, but will continue to print its newspaper and other associated products in Natchez, Miss.
The print operation in Natchez is owned by Boone Newspapers, Inc., and Carpenter Newsmedia, LLC, the parent company who also owns The Daily News, Bogalusa Newsmedia, LLC, and its associated products.
“This was not a decision that was made lightly,” Daily News publisher Justin Schuver said. “Due to the age of the equipment, the difficulty in finding replacement parts, and other ongoing challenges, it is no longer viable to continue running a full-time pressroom in Bogalusa.”
The Daily News will continue to publish its Wednesday and weekend editions, and its weekly The Shopper total-market coverage product. It will also continue to maintain its official website at www.bogalusadailynews.com.
“Change is always difficult, but I am confident that this change will not affect the high-quality products that our readers have come to expect from our team,” Schuver said. “We are very thankful for our readers and customers, and look forward to continuing to serve them for years to come.”
