South Alabama’s Maxime St. Hilaire and Georgia State’s Angel Carney turned in undefeated performances this past week and were named Sun Belt Conference Tennis Players of Week.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Maxime St. Hilaire, South Alabama

Jaguars’ freshman Maxime St. Hilaire posted a pair of wins in both singles and doubles this past week against opponents from Nicholls and LSU. At No. 3 singles, he defeated Nicholls’ Piyush Surendra Salekar, 6-2, 7-6 (5). At No. 4 singles, he defeated LSU’s Joao Graca, 6-3, 7-6 (0). Playing at No. 2 doubles, he and partner Sebastien Collard earned a wins against Nicholls’ Babineaux and Bagade (6-3) and LSU’s Kozlov and Hunter (6-3). St. Hilaire is 9-0 this spring in singles competition.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Angel Carney, Georgia State
(Jr., Dallas, Ga.)

Panthers’ junior Angel Carney went undefeated on the weekend in both singles and doubles play, posting a win, 6-1, 6-2, over UNC Greensboro, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win against Elon. Carney competed in the team’s No. 5 singles position. Partnering with Sofya Golubovskaya in the No. 1 doubles position, Carney also posted victories in doubles against UNCG, 6-1, and Elon, 6-3. Carney has now won five consecutive matches in singles and is undefeated in doubles at 7-0 with one match unfinished. She helped the Panthers win their fourth and fifth consecutive matches over the weekend, as the team improved to 5-3 on the season.
