Ethel Adams Haik, 92, was born in Washington Parish on Sept. 6, 1929, and passed away peacefully at her home in West Monroe on Feb. 25, 2022.
Ethel worked many years as a stock manager at JCPenney in Bogalusa. After retiring, she moved to West Monroe.
She enjoyed square dancing, quilting, crocheting and winning at dominoes.
She loved to feed her family and friends, and she made sure no one ever left her table without being “pot belly full” of her good cooking.
Her greatest joy was in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she had family dinner every Sunday.
She spent her final years with her brother Joe L., who came to live with her in 2010.
Ethel is survived by her brother, Joe L Adams; her daughter, Mel Haik; her sons, Raymond Haik Jr. (Karen) and John Haik (Judith “Skippy”); her grandson, James Raymond Carroll (Amy); her granddaughters, Adrienne Haik (Jonathan Freedman), Toni Newville (Anthony DiGiallonardo), Lee Newville and Lillian Smith (Gregory); and great-grandchildren, Coleson, Brooks, Bryan, Gabriel and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Haik Sr.; her daughter, Dyana Haik; her siblings, Bobbie Adams Navo, Johnnie Adams, Reggie Adams, Brock Adams, Ray Adams, Joan Adams Campbell and Jimmy Adams; and her parents, Bob Spencer Adams and Elmer Robbins Adams Strickland.
The family is grateful to Serenity Care providers for their warm-hearted care of Ethel, especially Diane, Nikki, Kaye, Zoel, Jackie, Brandie, Desiree, Pat and Diamond, as well as to Compassus Hospice for helping Ethel have her final weeks at home.
Graveside service was held at Adams Cemetery in Varnado at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
