Travis Thomas, 80, a resident of Angie, passed away on March 27, 2022, at his residence. He was a friend to everyone and spent his life serving his community as owner and operator of Travis’ Grocery. He loved his family and his beagles. He was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church in Bogalusa.
Travis is survived by his wife, Denise Thomas; a daughter, Karen Sue Thomas; one stepdaughter, Rachelle (Daniel) Sabillon; a brother, Jerry Thomas; sisters, Janell T. Lumpkin and Brenda McNutt; grandchildren, Leanna Bunn, Amy Denise Cleland, Craig Hartzog, Niki Sheridan, Daren Garner, Lauren, Courtney, and Jonathan; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Lee and Oneida Stringer Thomas; his daughters, Cathy Lynn Thomas Haire and Theresa D. Thomas; his brother, V.L. Thomas; granddaughters, Angela D. Knight and Amber D. Knight; and a great-granddaughter Angela “Angel” Knight.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Travis Thomas was held Tuesday, March 29, with visitation starting at 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resuming Wednesday, March 30, at 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The Rev. Clay Norwood will officiate the service and interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Jamie Westbrook of St. Joseph Hospice for her compassion and care during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Superior Avenue Baptist Church’s Building Fund.
