Helen Lavada Lewis Stewart of Bogalusa, a life-long member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, born Jan. 5, 1936, passed away March 30, 2022, at Good Samaritan Center in Franklinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Vernon Stewart Jr.; her parents, Etha Lavada Walters Lewis Bryant and Thomas Swift (T.S.) Lewis Jr.; paternal grandparents, Thomas Swift Lewis and Sally Ford Lewis; maternal grandparents, Indiana Gay Walters and Needham Thomas Walters; and a grandson, Joshua Woods.
She is survived by her son, Benjamin Travis Stewart and wife, Susan; one sister, Anne Bryant James (Jim); and a brother, Thomas Ford Lewis. Mrs. Stewart is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Creel; grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Stewart and wife, Lindsey, John Wesley Stewart and wife, Marissa, Jeremy Woods, and Haley Ann Frye; as well as a multitude of great-grandchildren, Colin, Cole, Clara, Bryce, Amber, Joshua, Ernesto, Nadia, Jeremy, Nathan, Isabella and Zoey; one great-great-grandson, Beaux Alexander; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Brown-McGehee was entrusted with all arrangements. Visitation will begin on Saturday, April 2, at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Sunday, April 3, visitation will resume at 10 a.m. until the time of the service, officiated by Bro. Mark Morelock, at 1 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogalusa.
The family has invited other family and friends for a fellowship meal at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church after graveside services.
