Bogalusa’s Big Bad Lumberjack Band marched in the Bayou Classic Parade that was held on Saturday.
“The experience, if I could sum it up in one word, is ‘mindblowing,’” Bogalusa Band Director Chad Harry said. “We come from a small town where you really don’t get noticed a lot and to go into New Orleans where you’re viewed by Southern, Grambling and alumni, it puts you on a different level and it makes the kids feel appreciated for the hard work they’ve put in throughout the season.”
Harry has been the school’s band director for 13 years and Harry said that they have been invited to the Bayou Classic Parade over about the last 10.
Harry said the parade is about three miles. It starts off of Elysian Fields and ends at the Caesars Superdome where the Bayou Classic is played.
“Over the past years of marching in the Bayou Classic, we have built up a fanbase in New Orleans and they look forward to seeing us every year.”
Harry said that every time they go, it’s a different experience.
“It gets better-and-better every time we go,” Harry said.
