Several Franklinton track/field athletes are headed to regionals after their performance in the District 8-4A Meet that was held on Tuesday at Salmen.
David Moore qualified in two events, while Kaleb Causey and Andrew Crain made it in an event each. Franklinton also had two relay teams make it to regionals.
Moore is going to regionals in the discus and shot put. He came in fourth place in both. Moore threw the discus 106 feet, 7 inches. His shot put distance was 39-1. Teammates Andre Callais was fifth in the discus and ninth in the shot put with distances of 113-1 and 33-9. Loranger’s Blayne Bankston won both events with the discus at 120-11 and the shot put at 43-11.
Crain came in third place in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5 minutes, 9 seconds. Teammate Stephen Pickering was 12th in 6:18. Salmen’s Hayden Brooks won in 5:08, as just four seconds separated first from sixth.
Kaleb Causey was fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:19. Teammate Jacob Crain came in eighth with a time of 2:24. Lakeshore’s Blake Raccuglia won in 2:11.
Franklinton’s 4×400 relay team and 4×800 group both came in third place with times of 3:53 and 9:32. The 4×400 team had Kaleb Causey, Christian Young, Rayshone Manuel and Timarion Partman. The 4×800 team was Jacob Crain, Andrew Crain, Ahmod Partman and Causey.
Tuesday’s meet was a qualifying competition. The top four from each event are headed to regionals that will take place on April 25 at East Jefferson.
Franklinton is the only local team in District 8-4A.
Several more Franklinton athletes competed.
Young tied Loranger’s Jaden Triguero for fifth for the high jump at 5-6, but won the tie breaker, which is fewest misses. Lakeshore’s Caleb Bourg won at 6-0.
Franklinton’s 4×200 relay team was fifth in 1:37. The team had Manuel, Timarion Partman Christiun Martin, Micah Hart. Salmen in 1:30.
Martin came in sixth in the long jump at 17-11, as Loranger’s Jeremiah Grady won at 21-11.
Andrew Crain was sixth in the 3,200 after running it in 12:02. Loranger’s Elvin Lobo-Hernandez won in 11:37.
Manuel came in seventh in the 100 with a time of 11.82 seconds, as Salmen’s Christian Brown clocked a 11.20 to win.
Timarion and Manuel ran seventh and eighth in the 200 with times of 24.25 and 24.32. Salmen’s Jacobi Jefferson won in 22.71.
Bryce Hall came in seventh in the javelin at 92-5, as Lakeshore’s Brandon Pierre threw a 139-5 to win.
Young was 11th for the 400 at 1:02. Salmen’s Desmond Beasley won in 52.19.
