Bogalusa teammates combine to win 3 events in District 7-3A Meet

Bogalusa’s Caitlin Holloway won two events and teammate Ciearra Gibson won an event in the District 7-3A Meet that was held last Wednesday at Jewel Sumner.
Holloway was victorious in the long jump and shot put. She long jumped 15 feet, 6.5 inches. Teammate Serenity Jackson was fifth at 13-5.25. Holloway’s shot put distance was 30-1.5. Pine’s Samaya Dillon and Bogalusa’s Na’Kaleyln Thomas were sixth and ninth at 23-11 and 18-10.50.
Gibson captured the discus with a throw of 89-5. Teammate Shaniyah Forbes was eighth at 35-2.
Last Wednesday’s meet was a qualifier. The top four from each event are headed to regionals. Regionals will be on April 26 at Jewel Sumner.
Bogalusa and Pine are the local teams in District 7-3A.
More locals qualified for regionals.
Bogalusa had two relay teams make it to regionals. Their 4×100 and 4×200 team came in third and fourth with times of 53.63 and 2 minutes, 0 seconds. Bogalusa’s 4×100 team included Gibson, Sha’Kezie Jefferson, Jackson and Holloway. The 4×200 group was Gibson, Jefferson, Jackson and Holloway. Jewel Sumner won the 4×100 in 51.40 and Albany won the 4×200 in 1:50.
Jackson came in fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 1:02. Jefferson was fifth in 1:04. Albany’s Amelia Chesney won in 56.79.
Gibson was fifth in the 100 in 13.61. Jewel Sumner’s My’Jha Holmes topped the event in 12.70.
Forbes and Thomas were seventh and eighth in the javelin with throws of 47-3 and 38-0. Albany’s Aubrey Hoyt won at 108-0.
