Ben’s Ford has plenty of runners heading to state

Ben’s Ford Christian School has plenty of runners going to the state meet after they qualified at the Class 3A South State Meet on Saturday at Canton Academy.
Steven Thibodeaux came in second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 22.06 seconds. Providence Classical Academy’s Anderson Phillips won in 21.17.
Jonah Holston was third in the 100 and 200 after running them in 12.13 and 25.37. Teammate Thibodeaux was fifth in the 200 at 25.55 and Caleb Mathews was sixth in the 100 at 12.44. Tallulah Academy’s Brayson Morson won at 11.71 and Prairie View Academy’s O’Brian DeJohnette ran in 24.43 to win.
In the relays, Ben’s Ford came in second for the 4×400, third in the 4×200, fourth in the 4×800 and fifth in the 4×100. The 4×400 team included Robichaux, Mathews, Thibodeaux and Talley. The 4×200 group had Holston, Thibodeaux, Mathews and Talley, The 4×800 team was Ruston Kennedy, Jonus McNabb, Derrick Norris and Ben McGrath. The 4×100 team had Holston, Robichaux, Mathews and Talley. Tallulah Academy won the 4×100 and 4×200 with times of 47.93 and 1 minute, 41 seconds. Wilkinson County Christian Academy won the 4×400 in 4:18 and Providence Classical Academy bested the 4×800 in 9:57.
Thibodeaux was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 49.61. Wilkinson County Christian Academy’s Jacob Sessions won in 43.33.
Saturday’s meet included every running event except the 3,200 meters, The 3,200 and the field events were held last Wednesday.
The top four from each event made it to state.
The Class 2A 3,200 meters and the field events will be on May 5 at Canton Academy. The rest of the running events will be on May 6 at Jackson Preparatory School.
In order to made it South State, athletes had to come in the top four of their district meet.
Ben’s Ford was the only school from Washington Parish in the meet.

Robichaux and Talley ran fifth and sixth in the 400 with times of 1:03 and 1:04, as DeJohnette won in 57.18.
Mathews was fifth in the 800 at 2:21.
