Donna Jean Sykes Mullen passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the age of 64 in her hometown of Bogalusa, La. She was born on April 6, 1959, in Bogalusa to Barbara Jean Sykes and Jerry Sykes, who preceded her in death.
Donna grew up in Bogalusa, where she shared a cherished childhood with her two younger brothers, Jeffrey Sykes (deceased) and Douglas Ray Sykes. She attended Bogalusa High School and graduated with fond memories of her time there.
Donna dedicated much of her working life to the Double D Meat Company, where she spent approximately 20 years. However, for the past nine years, her focus shifted to taking care of her beloved family at home.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted spouse of 40 years, Henry “Billy” Mullen, who will forever hold her in his heart. Donna will also be deeply missed by her children and their spouses: Staci McElhannon, Tiffiney Martin and her spouse Wes Weisler, and Madonna Bedwell and her spouse Stephen Bedwell. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Nicole, Matthew, Dani, Rainey, Davis, Belladonna, and J.D. and also her niece, Ashley and her spouse Gabby. In addition to her immediate family, Donna is survived by her brother, Douglas Ray Sykes, who will continue to treasure their shared bond.
Donna was preceded in death by her beloved grandchildren, Bailey Jean Bedwell and Ray Albert Bedwell; and her brother, Jeffery Sykes, whose memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
Donna Jean Sykes Mullen touched the lives of many through her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Her legacy of devotion and care to her family and all who met her will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her intelligence and quick wit made conversations with her engaging and enlightening, while her fun-loving nature ensured that there was never a dull moment in her presence. Her kindhearted nature and peaceful demeanor created a calming aura, making people feel at ease in her company. She generously shared her love, time, and resources with those around her, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
We will forever cherish the memories we shared with Donna Jean Sykes Mullen and carry her spirit within our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
